{"id":3336,"date":"2016-05-18T19:50:13","date_gmt":"2016-05-18T19:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qantumthemes.xyz\/sonik\/demo2\/news\/e-tropolis-line-up-complete\/"},"modified":"2016-05-18T19:50:13","modified_gmt":"2016-05-18T19:50:13","slug":"e-tropolis-line-up-complete-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.la99radio.com\/index.php\/2016\/05\/18\/e-tropolis-line-up-complete-2\/","title":{"rendered":"E-tropolis line-up complete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The line-up for the industrial, EBM and synthpop festival E-tropolis in Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, Ruhr, on March 28 is complete.<\/p>\n<p>For the most part, though, people just happening to pass by the two-block campus during Public Practice sessions are at the best advantage to enjoy the notes in the air, mixing with the environment. \u0093We organize it so that several musicians are playing concurrently, in different areas of the campus,\u0094 explains Ming Ng, director of Active Arts. \u0093So, there is a \u0091soundscape\u0092 that is created as you walk from one musician to another.\u0094<\/p>\n<p>Like exhibits in a museum, the participating musicians are set up with signs next to them, explaining who they are and what they are doing. Once in a while, people will stop to listen or to ask the musicians a quick question, but some don\u0092t quite know what to make of the situation. \u0093One man tried to drop a dollar into my saxophone case,\u0094 Oto recalls with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FBAIXeXkQoA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Since Public Practice is such a unique experience, it\u0092s no wonder that the participants tend to create lasting bonds. The relationships begin outdoors on the Music Center campus, when one musician might stroll up to another to sight-read through some duos. At the end of the project everyone takes part in a group dinner and discussion, and the relationships often extend far beyond that day.
